Well.... Despite a grim weather forecast we had a successful show. The day started warm and dry and other than a rather drenching shower at 1:30 it remained that way, even the wind dropped in the afternoon and all in all conditions were quite pleasant. We almost matched our record flower and produce show entry of last year being only 1 entry down on that figure but with 3 extra exhibitors. Fortunately Alison had a new enlarged produce tent this year so there was plenty of space to put on an attractive display of your produce and arts and crafts. We are pleased that you love to enter your produce in the show as it is one of the main reasons for having the show and we hope that you will continue to enter in greater numbers. We had a packed schedule in the Arena. Special thanks to the Stagecoach crew for performing the opening song and to Hawkeye Falconry who were able to tailor their act to fit into gaps in the schedule after their initial slot was curtailed by the rain. Also not to forget our other entertainers, Bob Hogg, Tony and Amanda Brutus and The medieval Combat Society who's encampment and foot joust provided an informative and entertaining backdrop to the day. Most of all we thankyou the residents of Wanborough and the surrounding villages and Swindon for braving the weather and attending in large numbers. We rely on your support in order to stage the show year on year. Without you our fine tradition would be lost. We dont have the exact details yet for all parts of the show but when we get the info I will post a full write-up here. See you all next year. |

Summer Show 2010Welcome and Hello to the 79th Wanborough Show. I like to see this as your show by the way, not ours. We run it to entertain the families of the local Parishes and Swindon.
This may be your first show, (in which case I hope it will not be your last), or perhaps you are an ‘old timer’, on maybe your 20th visit, yes some are!
If this is your first time, then perhaps you will be inspired to enter something into the ‘Green Tent’ and win a prize or two?
This year, as always, we have a bumper selection of attractions, some well established, others brand new. We are confident that they will provide a full day of entertainment for all the family. We’ve kept the prices the same as last year as everyone is counting the pennies these days.
The Show Society will have a long and tiring day and not just the people who set the show up; their work will be done in the months leading up to the show. There are those who help on the day and others who clear up afterwards. We hope you as spectators and participants will go home weary and tired, I suspect from too much sun, fun and perhaps a little beer?
Enjoy, see you on the 21stAugust.
